The Kuretake ZIG Cartoonist White Brush Pen is designed for adding clean white highlights and small corrections to illustration and manga artwork. Its highly opaque white, water-based pigment ink helps artists place bright accents where a regular pen or pencil would not give enough coverage.

The brush format is especially useful for expressive highlights, hair shine, eye reflections, sparkle effects, lettering accents, and small correction work. The Ultra Fine variant is made for very fine details, while the Small Brush variant gives a broader white brush mark for highlight work.

Compared with a standard white gel pen, this brush pen gives a more brush-like application and can be useful when you want a painted white mark instead of a hard pen line. It may not be the best choice for artists who want a dry pencil effect, a permanent paint marker feel, or broad flat white coverage over a large area.

This pen is helpful for manga artists, illustrators, card-makers, lettering artists, and sketchbook users who want to add white accents after colour or linework. It is also practical for correcting small mistakes in illustration when the surface and underlying media allow it.

When used over water-soluble materials such as water-based dye ink or watercolours, the white ink may bleed into the other component. Testing first is important if you are working over watercolour, dye ink, or any surface that may reactivate.

[+] Studio Guide: How to Use & Store (Click to Expand)

Before first use, twist off the pen nib, remove the yellow ring, and re-twist the pen nib into the cartridge. Replace the cap and shake well before every use.

To start the ink flow, remove the cap and hold the pen tip facing downward. Twist the bottom of the pen clockwise 5 to 10 times, listening for the clicking sound and checking the ink flow gradually as you go.

When ink begins to flow through the brush, test the pen on scratch paper before applying it to your artwork. If the amount of ink on the brush becomes low, twist the bottom of the pen a few times until you hear a click.

Practice on a separate piece of paper first so you can control the flow of ink. Applying too much pressure to the cartridge may result in breakage.

After each use, wipe away excess ink from the brush tip or body on scratch paper before firmly securing the cap. Ink may solidify and build up if the cap is not closed and tightened properly.

Do not drop or shake the pen too much, as this may result in ink leaking. Do not leave the pen in direct sunlight or high temperatures.

Store the pen vertically with the cap facing upwards. Use only for the intended purpose.

The ink may stain clothing if it comes into contact with fabric. No SDS link was provided.
