Art Battle Nationals 2017
Tonight, two of Ottawa’s very best speed painters will be competing against artists from across the country for the title of 2017 Art Battle National Champion and a cash prize in downtown Toronto.
Allan André (2016 Ottawa Regional Champion and 2016 Art Battle National Champion) will be defending his title while Dom Laporte (2017 Ottawa Regional Champion) will be looking to become the National Champion for the first time.
“I always knew we had the talent in Ottawa, that we could be home to a National Champion. The fact that we have to incredible artists representing Ottawa this year fills me with such pride and I cannot wait to see the end result. Even if we don’t bring the trophy back to Ottawa, some incredible art will be created tonight” - Peter Purdy, Organizer Art Battle Ottawa.

Both artists are very well known to the Ottawa area and beyond. André has been making a name for himself across the country appearing on the CBC TV series “Crash Gallery,” exhibits in the National Art Centre and currently running a new live painting event at Grounded Cafe every Thursday night. Laporte, aside from having a number of shows from Ottawa to Barcelona, has done large murals for notable clients including Beau’s Brewery & Co., BMO, The Toronto Raptors and City of Ottawa.
Art Battle held their first public event downtown New York City on September 7th 2001 and has since grown across Canada, the US, and Europe. The 2017 Art Battle Canada National Championships will be held tonight at 7:30PM in Toronto’s The Great Hall, 1097 Queen St W.
