Andrea Warren begins her explorative series of Women in Painting, beginning with an artist who is thought to be a trailblazer of abstraction, Hilma af Klint.
"Although not widely known until well into the twenty-first century, Swedish artist Hilma af Klint is now also hailed as one of the first pioneers of abstract art. In fact, she is considered by some to be the mother of abstraction, as she began painting abstractly as early as 1906"
Dom Laporte is an Ottawa-based artist whose work explores the limits of portraiture through a combination of traditional painting and mixed-media methods. Laporte has exhibited his work in solo, collaborative, and group exhibitions for nearly a decade, with shows in Ottawa, Toronto, Vancouver, and Barcelona.
